Every day a hangar is offline has a cost. For commercial operators and MROs, it's lost revenue. For military installations, it's reduced aircraft availability and mission readiness. When teams evaluate fire protection, the conversation often centers on capital cost, but downtime during installation can have a greater impact than the system itself. The Ignitable Liquid Drainage Floor Assembly (ILDFA) is designed to keep that disruption to a minimum.
Built for Fast, Low-Disruption Installations
- No overhead work. ILDFA installs from the floor up, with no roof access or overhead piping. Aircraft stay out of the hangar only for the floor work itself, not for extended overhead retrofits.
- Contained trenching. Most installations require trenching. Crews use standard containment enclosures to control dust and protect nearby aircraft and tooling.

Designed for Operational Flexibility
- Pre-fitted trench layouts. Trench sections are preassembled and test-fit at our Houston facility before shipping. This reduces field errors and speeds up installation.

- Phased installation. For mission-critical hangars, we can phase the work and run multiple shifts to compress the schedule. A clear hangar is preferred, but ILDFA panels are structurally sound immediately after placement, so aircraft can return to completed sections before full commissioning.

Light Infrastructure Requirements
- Water: a 3-inch water line
- Power: ILDFA discharge pumps typically run within the capacity of existing hangar transformers, which avoids costly electrical upgrades.
Less Downtime, Less Revenue Lost
With no overhead retrofit, contained work zones, and phased scheduling, ILDFA keeps hangars operating through installation. Whether the priority is revenue or readiness, that time back on the floor matters as much as the system itself.
